August 13th - 24th

Well, I'm going to whine now. I want my house done! I want to move in now. Why is it taking so long?

I just read through the whole blog and the building process has always seemed like it was going ssoooo quickly. Now, I feel like we're just coasting along and nothing is getting done. I'm ready to be home. Now that the painters are done, we should see it come together pretty quickly.....didn't I say that last month?

Gutters are on

Cement is done (for now)

Painting is done (hmmm, pretty white, maybe there's more painting in our future)

Porch is done

Yikes, there's where we ran out of redwood!

Back to the house!

I have to say that between travel and hospital I haven't spent much time there. We do have some new pictures however - this will bring us up to this week. Basically, they're just spraying the finish on the trim inside, and patching, sanding and preparing to paint. The last time I was there, they had the windows covered and that doesn't make for pretty pictures. Hopefully, at the end of this week we'll be painted and then things will start to move again.

Bench Dog!

Screened porch is screened! It's taken some getting used to - I liked the open view before screening, but I know, I know, I'll appreciate it when the bugs are out.

Siding's just about done - we're alittle short! Yikes, but the builder says they can find the few pieces we need to finish up.

Sinks & counter tops are in the bathrooms - this is the onyx in the powder room

One more Gary update

Bronson booted his butt yesterday - he's breathing on his own and they really don't have a plan for people that are healing - just if you're in distress. Last Thursday, they found a dislocated bone in his left hand that had to be surgically repaired, so now both hands are bandaged. His brain injury is more severe than we knew originally, but he does seem to be recovering himself more and more everyday.
There's issues with him entering rehab since there's no weight bearing on his left leg and both arms/hands. It makes it difficult for a rehab hospital to accept him. He was moved to SW Regional Rehab in Battle Creek yesterday, and looked better immediately. We're still hoping for a full recovery at this point - and Gary says he's ready to get to work!

more Gary news

Wednesday was a big day for us. Gary was there - he knew us, and was responding appropriately. We're thrilled to have him back! He's got a long way to go but we're so happy that he's going to have the chance.

We're moving Andrea to Chicago on Friday but I should be able to log some house stuff on Saturday...and leave for Boston on Sunday (barring any further disasters!)

Thanks everyone for your help, prayers, thoughts and dances....I know they made a difference!
